For more than 30 years, Jane Williams and her husband Billy Lyles have run the Indian garment shop Katinka in the East Village of Manhattan. It has been a mainstay of the neighborhood, offering its array of colors, sounds and scents. Williams spends about five months out of the year traveling around India bringing back authentic, hand-made items for her store.

An eccentric couple, Williams and Lyle have remained a constant in the ever-changing neighborhood. The shop is loved by its loyal customers and provides a glimpse of what The Village is all about.
